Bosham v Angmering
Sun 13th December
Bosham hosted Angmering on a wet and windy day at Walton Lane this Sunday. Bosham we’re looking to build on their victory against top of the table Felpham the previous week. In contrast Angmering picked up their first points of the season a week ago.
Bosham started on the front foot and looked confident on the ball. Lots of possession and territory yielded little in the opening exchanges. Bosham toiled against a very organised and disciplined Angmering who belied their league position.
Then, on the half hour mark Bosham made the breakthrough. A corner from the left hand side was whipped in by Charlie Gordon, nodded on by Fin Hughes to Toby Alford who was left unattended at the far post. Alford produced an unstoppable, acrobatic right footed hook shot that the Angmering keeper had no chance with. 1-0 to the home side.
This calmed Bosham down who continued to dominate the game. The Angmering keeper being forced into two excellent saves, the first from Alford again, curling a shot towards the top right hand corner that was superbly saved. Then another good stop from tireless midfielder Ed Mann who had drilled the ball across goal only to be denied by another impressive save.
The ever consistent Toby Greatorex was causing havoc down the left hand side with his skill, trickery and perseverance and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself.
The Bosham defence, martialled by Baynham, Carter and Hand had managed to stop any serious threats coming to fruition from the visitors.
Bosham made 3 changes at half time but this did not change the dynamic of the game.
Skipper Joe Boschi continued to dictate the game from central midfield, bringing the pace and power of Charlie Gordon into play regularly. Gordon’s marauding runs down the right hand side were really giving Angmering plenty to think about.
Bosham continued to press away and were rewarded 10 minutes into the second half. A lovely ball through the middle from Boschi found prolific striker Finley Roberts who took the ball nicely and finished in imperious fashion from 18 yards out. 2-0 Bosham.
Baynham and Carter at the back continued to deal with any threat with both players making some very important tackles. They were ably backed up by substitute Curry at the back.
Beech and new signing Rainer worked hard and looked a threat every time bosham broke. Both having decent chances themselves.
It seemed only a matter of time before Bosham added a third. Sure enough, another corner resulted in a goal. This time Alford curled one in towards the keeper who fumbled, allowing Roberts to bundle in his sixth goal in two games since restarting after lockdown. 3-0. There was still time for the visiting keeper to make an outstanding save to deny Roberts his second hat trick in two weeks. Superbly tipping a vicious shot over the bar.
Oliver Probee and Bailey Burrows were introduced to the fray and helped Bosham to a much needed, and deserved clean sheet. Vincent-Peters in the home goal made some good saves and organised his defence well.
Overall, Bosham made light of the tricky conditions, staying true to their short passing game and patient build up play. A superb display from a Bosham side who seem to be improving every week!
