Dennis - father to club President, Bob, and grandfather to current first team manager, Andy - was instrumental in the development of both Hampshire and Sussex football over the years.
A true gent, wonderful coach and even a footballing visionary, Dennis formed Portsmouth Royal Navy Football Club in 1962 with the intention of bridging the gap between the United Services midweek league and the full Royal Representative side.
Dennis was also a former manager and highly respected coach at his beloved Bognor Regis Town, and regarded by many as a pivotal figure in the clubs' success in the 1980's; mentor to long-serving manager, Jack Pearce, and latterly, Darin Kilpatrick - not to mention the many players who donned the green-and-white jersey over the years. Dennis later took up the post of Vice President at Nyewood Lane.
His input into youth football also cannot be underestimated - nurturing players such as Simon Rodger, who went on to have a professional career at Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Sussex FA subsequently formally recognised Dennis's service to developing young footballing talent in the area, in naming their under 18's FA County Cup after him.
Dennis was also a welcome regular on the side lines at Walton Lane, where he would often offer grandson - and first team manager - Andy, some words of wisdom before kick-off. Perhaps little wonder we're top of the League...
Bosham will wear black armbands as a mark of respect to Dennis in their re-arranged final Premier Division game at home to Faygate United on Tuesday (May 13, 6.30pm k.o), and have requested a minutes silence prior to kick-off.
Dennis is also set to be remembered within Sussex County FA Chairman, Mathew Major's speech ahead of the Parafix Sussex Senior Challenge Cup Final at the Amex on Sunday, May 18, in front of 200 guests.
Dennis's funeral will take place on Thursday, June 5 at Portchester Crematorium, starting at 12 noon.
